Wiring basics 7i97 was created by Kylizer
Im just now starting to get the concept od how alot of things works with linux to my anilam to my mesa 7i97. I have my limits working so I can see them changing in HALshow. So now that I understand how the limit switches work could I apply that same thinking to my analog outs on TB3? There is ENA0+, ENA0-, GND, AOUT. What I am needing to do is basically trying to kick on a relay through my enables that would provide power to my drives while the GND and AOUT will be providing the signal needed for how much power the motors need to recieve?

You would normally trigger a relay using an output probably tied to iocontrol.0.user-enable-out

is it anything like I did with the limit switch? Ill have to put power to it with positive going to the relay and common to the 7i97 then output somewhere else on relay? haha. Could you give me a wiring example by chance? On the 7i97 there is only an out+ and an out -. First time using an output so Im just looking for little guidance on the wiring becasue I think I can get it figured out on the linuxcnc side.... maybe

I covered using outputs in my 7i76e video. Same principles on the 7i97

The 7i97 I/O is not the same as the 7i76e. The 7i97 does not have Field Power like the 7i76e. The 7i97 has isolated inputs and outputs. So an output you would connect 24vdc to + and - to the relay + then the - on the relay to 0vdc.

AWESOME that's exactly what I was needing to know. I just wasn't sure if my negative was going to come from the relay. Good job!

Looks right. Be sure to add a flyback diode across the relay contacts.

Ill have to look into these as I dont know what a flyback diode is and idk what I mean about the relay coil. I just have a relay that I thoguth had to be engaged to turn on my amplifiers.
