Hi

Thank you all for a very supportive and helpful forum!

does anyone know why mesa boards such as the 7i92 are almost impossible to obtain these days?..

I have damaged mine and i am looking for a replacement but can't find anything similar...i use pathpilot so that narrows down options.

I have a 7i96s but there are compatibility issues with that one....

I might yet design my own by reverse engineering the old one but that will take time i do not really have...

Any other ideas?... as I hate swapping the one remaining board between my machines....

thank you

Ian

Basically >52 week leadtimes for Xilinx FPGA's

There is a replacement for the 7I92 (7I92TF)
_if_ you are using their bitfiles, it needs Tormach support
(which should be coming)

Should work as-is with LinuxCNC

Thank you....i was getting a bit twitchy...it must be a very unsettling and difficult time.

I created the bitfiles for my 7i92H boards, so that should be no problem..but it depends on leadtime too..

Can you tell me what the differences are between the 7i92 and the TF version?

I have a few Xylinx fpga's in my parts bin, perhaps i could purchase a board with no fpga and I'll glue one in myself?...I'm quite handy with a hot air station...lol

Cheers!

The 7I92T[F,H,M] versions use a different (Efinix) FPGA so require a different toolchain to build firmware.

The 7I92TH and 7I92TM are stock, 7I92TF should be end of this week

Thank you PCW.

I have a 7i96S that i purchased thinking it had a xylinx fpga.

I do use pathpilot but i don't need Tormach bitfiles, I created my own for a custom 7i92.

My next quesions are:-

Can i easily update pathpilot hostmot2 driver to support the 7i96? and if so could someone give me a pointer or two?

And, pathpilot will confirm and reflash using mesaflash at startup, does the 7i96 still use mesaflash even though it has a different fpga? and if so is there a standard bitfile that matches the board i/o?

I guess the above also applies to the 7i92TM...

I'm sorry if this is dragging on somewhat but I want to make sure I can support my machines and continue to use pathpilot as a gui.

Many, many thanks for your help so far

The 7I96S and 7I92T[F,H,M] use mesaflash but need the latest version (3.4.6)

If you don't care about supporting Tormach hardware, its likely you could just replace the whole driver with the one from LinuxCNC

I debated starting a new thread vs. bumping this 2 year old one, but this thread already covers what I'm looking for.

I have a Tormach PCNC with a missing control. I threw a new PC at it and installed Pathpilot. I read that a 7i92h was a direct swap...but then learned that it was also NLA so I ordered the 7i92TH that I assumed was direct replacement. I've since learned that that was a bad assumption.

Do you happen to know that status of Tormach supporting the "T" cards?

Another possibility is a 6I25 (if you have a PCIE slot)

I'm using a NUC so no PCI without a new build. Plus I've already purchased the 7i92th.....which may or may not matter if it won't be supported.
