MESA 7i76eu Firmware was created by Bendandsend
Hey guys!
Hopefully I'm not banging a beaten drum here.
I am on the very cusp of finishing my build with the MESA 7i76eu, only to find, like other by the sounds of it, that the boards do not come flashed with firmware. Can someone please help me out? this was discovered when navigating to linuxcnc_2.9.3-amd64.hybrid\firmware to find nothing in the folder.
Please let me know any further information required, and any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Happy new years!
Tim.

Mesa 7i76EU comes with firmware loaded and ready to run, just use the included PncConf or MesaCT wizards to make a configuration for your machine.

Hey Tommylight — thanks for the reply just to close the loop on that earlier issue
I did get past the firmware/install side in the end. After a few messy attempts, I wiped everything and went with a fresh Debian 12 install, then installed LinuxCNC separately (rather than relying on bundled firmware paths). That got the 7i76EU fully detected, firmware loaded cleanly, and all stepgens running perfectly.
Where I’m stuck now is further downstream: the limit/prox inputs. The board, smart-serial, and motion side are all behaving exactly as expected, but the GPIO inputs appear frozen and don’t update in HAL even when shorted directly to GND.
So the original “missing firmware” problem is solved — this is a new issue on the input side, which is what I’m trying to chase down now.
I created a fresh topic on it to try and nail it down as its hopefully my final port of call for a while.

Hi, I am a newbie and I am having the same issue. I tried the bundled package with debian 12 Linuxcnc 2.9.4 iso and installed it. After starting the pncconfig and trying to run the board I got errors with the limit/estop/probe input on TP6. I set those to not used and I could get pulses on the board for movement. If I try to reset those inputs I get the errors again. I am going to try Bendandsends idea of individual install of debian 12.13.0 and Linuxcnc 2.9.8 and see what happens. I do not understand what you mentioned Tommylight when you said already replied to that from Bendandsend. Thanks for all you help I am frustrated now and appreciate all of the help to get this solved

Errors with limits have nothing to do with what Linux or version of LinuxCNC you are using, the are a setup issue, namely just invert them in hal or in the wizard.

Thank you for for your assistance, i VERY MUCH appreciate it.I am having problems with my hal files and my ini files no matter what i do i keep getting the same error message kinematisSwitch not defined. If I could get you look at my ini and hal files I would be eternally gratful. I have got past the communication errors and my pc is able to communicate with the 7i76eu I think I have most errors fixed now but unitl I get this current error out of the way I don't know if ther are anymore. I am not sure if this is the right place to ask, so please excuse my inexperience. Thannks again
