Hi, trying to get my 7I90Hd to talk to my mesaflash request. By now i think i screwed up flashing two spi images to it. At least it is not responding to the PI and spi nor vie epp and Lpt on a PC. I belive to have tried all i foind but nothing.... I now had the idea to flash a bit file for the 7i90hd with epp image to a 7i80db to the secondary eeprom and resolder that to the 7i9hd. Would that work or do borads use uncompatible memory formats in the eeproms? This solution is for me the most easy on.... i  cant jtag an update... so i think this should work.....
I tried sudo mesaflash --device 7i90hd --spi --addr /dev/spidev0.0 -- readhdmi running on the latest Pi5 image 01/2026
and sudo ... --epp --addr 0x378  and also 0x778 trying jumper 3 in S and P in all combos.... and kind of gave up after all my hours of testing...
Any better idea?
The lpt cable is a 1:1 cable LPT to mesa.

The spi is a pi - mesa 5 cable setup
11(mesa) 23 pi clk
13 - 21 SPIn
15 - 19 SPout
17 - 24 CS0

I also swapped 13 and 14 just to make sure thats also no issue...

Do the installed SPI firmware images load properly? (init and done light off)

If you need SPI, these should work unless there is a hardware issue of some kind.

A very simple hardware test would be to assert (ground) /CS
and see if the 7I90HDs MISO pin is driven low

Init and done Flash up and pwr stays on with w3 in S and M.
I will try the CS low test tomorow.

Hi, I am measuring on all pins (11 13 15 17) with no LPTR connected ~ 1.6V - When grounding CS (Pin 17) nothing changes....
LED CR3 is constantly on.

What can i che k in the FPGA configuration that may not be set to have SPI enabled?
Not sure if i used a spi cfg for my custom Bit file...

I created some for ethernet 7i80 and Epp sucessfull 7i90hd previously.... but then things went wrong....

Yeah, if you just used the seveni90 project you will get a EPP configuration.
if you used the seveni90spi project you will get a SPI configuration and if you used
the seveni90ssrm project you will get a SSerial configuration.
(There is one more 7I90 option: hm2serial)

So unless you made some build error its likely you have loaded EPP configurations

The best way out is probably to get  JTAG programmer, program the FPGA with a working
bitfile with the desired interface and then use mesaflash to restore the EEPROM contents

Hi, I loaded Halrun, followed by loadrt hostmod2 and hm2_7i90.
I got the following response on the foto. However im not sure if this is realy comming from my mesa card or not due to the warning and still no mesaflash responses what so ever....
I started the i790hd from Secondary eeprom that i think ...never touched. I also resoldered the cable etc. Can you tell me what im seeing? I will try to see if the inputs work in the hal monitor...
Thanks for any insight...

No picture was included

Did you have SPI working before you changed the firmware?

He added the picture above, seems all is good as it lists PWM and encoder pins.

Yes, that appears to be a working EPP configuration

What exact mesaflash command did you use?
