Can not connect to Mesa 7176eu was created by Etced
I have spent many hours searching posts and looking for answers. i just can't figure this out. I followed tommylight post on how to configure a wired ethernet connection. When I click save it comes up with a message "a gateway is incompatible with never-default.
The computer is a Lenovo m910q, Intel Core i5-7500T . I am a total newb at linuxcnc, but successfully completed 2 mach 3 machines in the past. please help this senior citizen. Thanks

Gateway, set it to 10.10.10.1 as in the how to, or just delete it as it is not used in this case when you set it for local network use, that you did not set, and that is OK if you do not use any other network but should be set nontheless.
Also, did you set the jumpers on Mesa board for 10.10.10.10? Default is 192.168.1.121, see Mesa manual.

IP 11 at the end, not 1
Gateway 1 at the end.
Gateway 1 at the end.

I have made the changes that you suggested. Still the same message appears when I hover over the save button. That button never gets highlighted.

I would leave the gateway and DNS server entries empty
as they are meaningless here.

You don't need a gateway, and you certainly don't need DNS. You also don't need such a large mask. Just enter the IP address, for example, 10.10.10.20, and the mask. Depending on the format, either 24 or 255.255.255.0.
For testing, you can enter the IP address manually in the console.
#check the interface name (probably enp0s31f6)
sudo ip link show
#add address
sudo ip addr add 10.10.10.20/255.255.255.0 dev enp0s31f6
#test local address
ping -c 3 10.10.10.20
#test mesa card
ping -c 3 10.10.10.10
