Here is the code used
# Feed Override
net fob1 wsum.0.bit.0.in <= hm2_5i20.0.gpio.062.in_not
net fob2 wsum.0.bit.1.in <= hm2_5i20.0.gpio.060.in_not
net fob4 wsum.0.bit.2.in <= hm2_5i20.0.gpio.058.in_not
net fob8 wsum.0.bit.3.in <= hm2_5i20.0.gpio.056.in_not

net increase-for halui.feed-override.increase <= classicladder.0.out-05
net decrease-for halui.feed-override.decrease <= classicladder.0.out-06

setp mult2.1.in0 10
net current-for-int mult2.1.in1 <= halui.feed-override.value
net conv-FO conv-float-s32.0.in mult2.1.out

net req-feed-int classicladder.0.s32in-03 <= wsum.0.sum
net curr-feed-int classicladder.0.s32in-04 <= conv-float-s32.0.out

The ladder used.

I wonder if there is a way to do this all in HAL and not with the ladder?

John

Hello John,

Nice work. Also great that you have posted your project from crate to finish. When you first mentioned the switch I thought you would do it all with HAL. But if it ain't broken...

Actually it is a bit slow and I'm going to replace the ladder with HAL comp when I get a few minutes to work on it.

Here is a little video of the Hardinge making some seal washers for itself.

There is also one on what happens when you don't get your offsets correct...

John,

Thanks for your build thread.
It looks like you overcame a lot of challenges.
I happened to see a Hardinge CHNC Lathe on Craigslist and was wondering if you had it to do over if you would recontrol this machinr or look for something else?

If any other LINUXCNC person is interested in it, go for it, I'm on the fence about it.

Here is my version:
www.wallacecompany.com/cnc_lathe/HNC/

It was a pretty easy conversion, and now-a-days one can even reuse the resolvers. I believe Pico and Mesa have resolver adapters.

John greetings,

We have a hardinge like yours, we have only the spindle motor. there are no servo motors, servomotors driver or VFD spindle.

spindle motor is 5Hp, the first query that I have is whether I can adapt some VFD for this type of spindle.

besides that servomotors and drivers do you recommend for this machine,

there are no manuals of any kind.

From now appreciate any help you can give me, I have the reference at the time of the spindle motor. but I read in the forum that these machines come with the same spindle motor.

thanks,

Viloria
