Problem with Mesa 5i25 was created by bruno2626
Hi,
I'm a newby with Linuxcnc and Mesa card. I have a 5i25 on a lathe with stepper motors and a linear encoder for 1 month. Yesterday, after a power up, the 5i25 seems to no longer work. The command of the spindle is ok (relay and pwm) but the stepper motors don't move at all and there is no signal from the encoder.
I tried to reflash the 5i25 with mesaflash, but the board is not found.
lspci returns : 04.00.0 DPIO module:Device 2718:5125 (rev 01)
On 5i25 two red leds lite at power up.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Re-flashing is normally a mistake, if the card loads its configuration at startup
(both red lights blink and then go out) , this means that the configuration was CRC
checked and loaded into the FPGA, so its known to be good.
Do both red lights go out after power up?
What version of mesaflash are you using and what OS?
I ask because any but the latest version of Mesaflash has issues with 64 bit OS's

Yes, both red lights go out after power up.
The Mesaflash version is 3.2.0
My OS is Linuxcnc 2.7.9 (32bit)
I tried the 5i25 board into another PC (the same model) and the problem is exactly the same.

Does LinuxCNC find the card?
Can you try the latest Mesaflash (3.3)?

"sudo mesaflash --device 5i25--" returns : "no 5I25 board found"
Only the commands of the spindle works fine.

I assume that's a typo, it should be something like
sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid
(no 5i25--)
sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid
(no 5i25--)

Oops, you are right. I forgot a space after 5i25. So, the board is found.
Perhaps my problem is elsewhere. My 5i25 is connect with this bob: www.omc-stepperonline.com/5-axis-cnc-bre...iver-stv2-p-197.html

The 5v from usb drops to 3.7v (!) when the linear encoder is pluged...
But this is not the only problem.
I found that the pin for enable the drivers motors and "dir" of Y axis don't work. Of course without the enable of the drivers the motors don't move.
Yet, it worked for a month?!
I can't remenber how to install the latest version of Mesaflash.
Thanks for your help.
