hi

has any one done a amada turret punch?

i have a amada Vipros587 Queen punch with C axis on punch stations

also is pure hydrulic on its punch unit

the machine its self would be easy, i am wondering if any one has solved the control of the hydrulic ram on the punch stations? for replacing the dedicated PHNC System

yes some custom punch cycles would be needed for slotting and profiling etc

Not sure it was an Amada, but i am sure there are turret punches with LinuxCNC, there are some short videos on youtube.
We can try to help for sure, just try to divide challenges in small chunks

Hi tom

90% of machine is no brainer done many limuxcnc before check out my posts in build section from years back , and YouTube

Only I was interested know how someone solved the punch hydraulic part , but if machine is servo or fly wheel driven then punch part is easy


Current control has a full on control with a special hydraulic servo controller for punch ram , and id like to replace it as very old now

I'll post some photos up next time I am at the machine

Ok seems Yuken LSV Series servo valves are most common used

And can be +/-10v in or 4-20ma commands

Seems run at 450hz so would require a fast loop than 1khz I would think to get smooth motion

Rest of the phnc just set stroke length as set sheet thickness on it and other things too so ram only retracts for needed stroke giving you faster punch rate

The hit rate on the machine I'm.doimg is 520 I believe , king version is 1200 hits on a nibble rate this is

1" spec not sure will check spec sheet

So this does not seem that hard to interface to
