7i85s and muxed input encoders

What does

sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid

report?

Attached the result.
The 5i25 card is about 6-7 years old. If it matters.
The 7i85S is new.

You probably have to look at the end of dmesg to see the actual error

Hmm, does commad sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid change something?

After executing this, the config works. I dont change anything, just the number of stepgens.

Now works everything, but i dont know how and why
