config 6i25 & 7i77 - can't select pwm output

Just getting started!
selected 7i77x2 one 7i77
+5v jumpers set to bus. Some lights come on 7i77.
In pncconf, I can't add any pwm(+10/-V). The program just zeros it. Do I need the field power for this? I don't have any currently. Where does +/- 10V come from?

You must mean on the Mesa co.ponent selection page

Ignore that for the moment and look on the 7i77 tab..thrre should be pwm tab there.

If I'm not understand you correctly then please post a screen shot.

You need field power. from the manual:-

VIN POWER SOURCE
The isolated field I/O on the 7I77 runs from a switching power supply that can be
powered by field power or a separate supply (VIN) with ground common with field power.
Normally the 7I77's VIN will be powered with field power. An on card jumper, W1 allows
VIN to be connected to field power. If you wish to use a single power supply for the 7I77s
field outputs and field logic power, W1 should be placed in the left hand position. This
connects field power to VIN. If you wish to use a separate supply for VIN, W1 Should be
placed in the right hand position. .

CABLE 5V POWER
The 7I77 can get its logic power from the host FPGA card or from TB1. W5
determines if the 7I77 gets its 5V logic power from the host FPGA card or TB1.
If W5 is in the left hand position, host FPGA power is used and the host FPGA card
must be jumpered to supply 5V to the daughtercard.
If W5 is in the right hand position, 5V power must be supplied to the 7I77 via TB1
and the 7I77 grounds the 4 DB25 signals used for host 5V power. In this case the FPGA
card must be jumpered so that it does not supply power to the daughtercard.

Never apply external 5V power to TB1 when W5 is in the left hand position or
you may damage the 7I77, FPGA card, PC, or connecting cable

Sorry if I was unclear. On the Mesa 0 config tab, there is an entry for #of pwm. When I type "3" in this field and accept changes, the program resets this to zero.

My other question relates to the source of +/- 10v when there is only +5v on the card from the PCI bus.

+-10V supplies are derived from the 7I77s 5V supply

Replying back:
I added +12v field power to the appropriate terminal block. With the jumper set to provide Vin. This caused two more lights to go on at the 7i77, but it didn't change anything with regard to being able to enter any positive number in the #pwm generators tab.

pncconf doesn't look at the hardware so it will run the same
(other than the openloop tests) even if no hardware is installed

Not sure what you mean by entering a number. You assign PWM
(Analog outputs) to specific Axis by clicking the arrow to the right of
the "Unused PWM Gen" item and selecting say "Main Axis" -->
--> "X Axis PWM"
