The 7I96S requires LinuxCNC 2.9 (or the upcoming LinuxCNC2.8.4)

I i have installed 2.9. according to the instructions of JT debian 11.4 and followed all the instructions, I also changed the name in the ini file to 7i96s.0 and made a couple of configurations in each of them there is this error..

You must have an old version of LinuxCNC 2.9 (April 2022 or earlier),
that is, before the 7I96S was added.

ok i will try to reinstall but i don't know from which source? i fin  d it ``build'' with so many sources available so confusing, i used this source from JT

If you are using a deb you can get the latest here:

packages.debian.org/source/unstable/linuxcnc

(This is from Sept 9)

If you are building from source, just use the lastest master

this solved the problem, now it recognizes 7i96s, and loads the configuration without error, however until item A in the configuration it won't accept forward..only xyz?
