MESA 5i25 Pins was created by btvpimill
I don't have any other cards. I am sure this has been asked and answered a zillion times, but please indulge this old man.
I am setting up a router, has XYYZ
I created the files from pncconf.
I am looking through the HAL file to see what pins the step and dir are connected to but do not see it. I can guess some of the directions from the HAL, there are lines that say 5i25.......GPIO-010-output-invert-true. So I duduct this is a direction pin.

But I am not able to locate where it difines the step as output, or the direction if not inverted.

Any help where to look?

1. The step/dir outputs are defined in the firmware

run:

sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid

to  list the currently installed firmwares pinout

2. You do not need to know which GPIO is mapped to which step/dir pins for inversion
because there are parameter aliases using the step generator number:

setp hm2_5i25.0.stepgen.NN.direction.invert_output true

NN being the stepgen number

Thanks PCW, I will have a look.

How about for connecting a probe input and tool setter input?

Do I set that in the HAL or is it also automagical?

Probe or tool setter inputs use plain GPIO

These are set in hal (or via pncconf)
