@Chris,

I don't know, if the following is your matter:

Please take a loog at hal_souceview, wenn running code, the actual line will be highlighted.

First the forground / background color combinations are not very beautifull, because the contrast is very low.

And second: If the program i.e. ends with M2 at line 96, the last highlighted line will be around 87. I think we should consider this behavior as a bug.

Norbert

Can you post a sample of the program?
I know M2 is never highlighted, I bet it depends on the program.
I could add highlight color as selectable.

Halo Chris,

Attention:
You are speeking about an complete tool change!
I just do an M61Q23!, not an tool change!

For me indexing a tool is not changing it.

A real tool change I am doing only in MDI ore AUTO mode at the moment.

Norbert

Then we are not talking the same thing.
I am talking of a complete tool change.
When I did cnc work the tool setting and origin setting were done in manual mode so you could jog.
so this requires tool changing to set each tool or to touch off the origin with the right tool.
I ran a lathe but I would think a mill would be similar.

Chris,

I just noted that clicking on the header of Tool# and Pocket# in tooledit widget will change the order, sort them.

Would it be possible to make this also for the diameter column?

I have at the moment only 23 tools in my tool file, but on my working machine I have about 50 tools, so searching for a certain tool diameter, i.e. a 3,2 mm drill would be easier.

Norbert

Yes I will add that.

Hallo Chris, that is not a matter of M2. It is just because in hal_sourceview in highlight_line
you use scroll_to_mark with use_allign = True, so the highlighted line is every Time in the middle of the box.

That is done very similar on a mill.

So your point of view is right.
What about my idea, adding a change button to the tool_edit widget, called change, so you can change a tool, without knowing the number, because you have all necessary information in front of your eyes!

Hay Chris,

by the way, what theme are you using, I like the round button and the metal finish.

An interesting idea. It still doesn't fix the mode switching problem.

I have enough work as it is ! :)

I think it's this one:
art.gnome.org/themes/gtk2/213

h20-gtk2-saphire
