Prototype new website for Linux CNC: Feedback please was created by jools
Hi all
I thought I'd design a website for Linux CNC's homepage to try and give a bit back.
It's here deepinthedark.tech/lcnc/index.php it's no way finished but wanted some ideas and thought's from the community as what should be on the front page. I'm thinking:
Showcase video of what it does that autoplays at the top.
Brief technical explanation
Showcase of machines to be seen in action
Links to instructions
Proprietary instruction videos
User showcase video's to show how easy it is to use
Take a peek and let me know thoughts. Any marketing or graphic designers on the board your help would be invaluable.
Cheers

Do you think that you would be able to do that within the limits of the existing CMS?

Pretty sure it already is. Well your forum is joomla and that's what I work with. Don't think your main site is joomla but the two can run separately anyway. One Joomla to run your forum, then one to run this site. No problems.

I should think any issues will be able to be overcome. If you have a list of concerns or needs that I need to address then let me know and I'll look into it for you.

Well, I am not actually in charge of the website.
But I think that the CMS is Jekyll?
(Which is why it can be easily managed from Github)

Anything that auto plays is bad news for the millions of us that don't have unlimited internet bandwidth.

It would be a different way of working but would do the same thing essentially. Depending who was in charge or what needed to be done it's very simple. Administrators can even log in from the front end and add things / change things. Different levels of access can be applied to different users and I can customise who can do what. It can even have it that any changes need signing off by a 'super user'.
Mainly wondering if people would like me to carry on. No point me wasting time if no ones bothered.

Everything about Linuxcnc is built from the source repository including the web site. So I can't see a Wordpress site or other CMS will get traction.
