Password issue was created by krlynn
I've installed the new LiveCD version (Graphical) on a fresh hard-drive from a thumb-drive. All seemed to go well, but when I attempt to boot into it now, Debian won't accept the password it prompted me to create during the installation process. I tried reinstalling and creating a different password with the same result.

This has probably been asked and answered, but I looked and didn't find it. Did catch the warning not to create a password under 7.1. Installing on Debian Wheezy (with Preempt-RT kernel). But I understood that to apply only to Alternate Install Methods.

OK, I'm good (for now).

Let me guess, you were typing in the password at the "login" prompt when at that point it actually wanted the user-name?

You might well make that mistake again in the future, I know I do.

Exactly!

But it only took three installations to resolve it, at least temporarily.

I've already made the mistake again.

I did the same thing. Was also going to reinstall, when I figured it out. Doesn't help that my German keyboard mounts as English, until I am logged in, so I need to use a z as a y in the user name.

On my old 10.04 controller, I specified a root password, but gave the user no password, so it boots straight into the user profile. Can this be done in Wheezy?
