I followed the install link linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/getting-start...lling_on_raspbian_10 and after I install the rtpreempt kernell I lose all USB ports.
Makes no difference if I update OS soon after I install the OS
This is the lsusb looks like before kernel update

This seems to be a problem with a new version of the RPi4.
(The original version of the RPi4 works fine)
Are you using an 8GB Pi? At least one person has said that configuring to only use 4GB bypasses the problem. This sort-of makes sense if the 8GB Pi always expects a 64-bit OS.

I'm using RPI 4 with 4Gb RAM
I installed the Raspberry PI 4 OS (Version 11/01/2021) because chromium-browser on the RPI ISO Image from linuxcnc.org/downloads/ does not start
pi@linuxcnc:~ $ chromium-browser

Can some of you tests this new kernel? (probably best done on a new SD card so as not to wreck your existing install).
www.linuxcnc.org/temp/linux-image-5.4.83...t48-v7l+-4_armhf.deb
It's the latest Pi kernel with the realtime patch on top.
It works for me on a Pi400.
One way to install is to download the file, then
The ./ tells apt to look at a file, not on the repository server.
