Looking for a super small Linux-Version? was created by Holzwurm56
Is there a super-minimal LinuxCNC installation available? When I install the Debian-LinuxCNC ISO, all sorts of programs—such as LibreOffice, games, multimedia apps, etc.—get installed along with it. Isn't there an OS version that installs truly only the bare essentials? No one needs LibreOffice, games, or anything like that on the machine.
Thanks,
Hans.

You can do as follows:
1. Download the Debian 13 installer.
2. During installation, deselect all window managers so that the system installs in text mode.
3. Do apt install xfce4-desktop linux-image-rt-amd64 linuxcnc (I'm writing from memory, maybe it needs to be done a little differently).
The system installed in this way will fit on an 8 GB disk.
It won't be comfortable to use, but LinuxCNC will work properly.

Strange, LibreOffice is excluded from the Debian Live-build ISO we create

I don't know of any games installed.
