0-10v Servo Control with 7i76E

Category: HAL

Hi, stupid mistake. I had to change the sign/direction of the feedback. But there seems to be a problem with my board. There is noise in the analog signal. And with 1000 revolutions per minute and without a pid regulator I get spindle-vel-fb-rpm-abs 1005-1010rpm

should I filter the analog signal?

What do you think of the scheme?  I can also upload a simulation ?
In simulation it's good, but in real life it's not good :)

Maybe I should add a capacitor in parallel with the resistor R28 ?

if you set P to 0 and command say 1000 RPM, what
are the values of

spindle-vel-cmd-rpm
and
spindle-vel-fb-rpm-abs

?

0-10v Servo Control with 7i76E

Category: HAL

I have a problem with the setup. I am uploading the configuration.I have a servo spindle on a lathe. I want to close the feedback in linuxcnc. When changing P 0.1, the motor increases speed. Seems pid, doesn't follow feedback.
Board 7i98

everything gets back normal now, thanks !

Wow, that's pretty rare to have a failed ceramic capacitor.

C1 is a 22 UF 16V 1210 ceramic capacitor

Its probably OK with this missing as its one of three 22 UF capacitors on the 5V rail

I measure the resistance of C1 capacitor, it is zero, or short

That's a REVB board with no 5V TVS, Not a lot of parts run from the 5V,
mainly the step/dir drivers you might try a lab supply or other 5V supply
,limited to about 2A and see what gets hot if left on for a bit.

Yes, i use another individual power supply for +5V input to P3, its voltage drops to 2.2V and current draw is 4.8A. After a while, hot parts found, as shown in attached photo, it's soldering melted, when it touched it, it came out with my finger (i.e it popped out). Immediately, the PWR orange
LED lids, the voltage goes back to 4.9V and current draw drops 0.15A, there is 3.3V observed when measured. When i switch to using +12V to unreg logic PWR IN, several green LEDs on the top of card flashs a while and also PWR orange LED lids. I haven't yet installed it to enclosure to connect all stuffs for testing. Wil it be Okay now? What spec. this C1 capacitor is, will i just replace it and get the card normal?

Never done any reversing polarity. The card installed in the milling machine works weil, until the day before yesterday, when the milling machine powered up, the card has not +5V

.... went down to 0v but having current draw 3.3A,

Dead short or reversed polarity in some cases.
I would guess at dead short since there is no heated parts.

>Understand. Up to now, I only input +5v to P3 or +12V to unreg logic PWR +IN for testing. Neither of them have obvious power draw, the former one almost went down to 0v but having current draw 3.3A, the latter one 12v having 0.05A current draw(no 5v output from it going to logic portion is observed). Getting hot components cannot be found in the process.

Yes, the charger cannot supply more power. There must be a hot zone. You can try a little current for more time.

No if you want to test with a 5V supply, apply it to P3.
Where are you located? It may be easiest to return the card for repair/replacement

Make correction in my mentioning lastly, i) actually the wall plug power charger delivered almost zero voltage when it was input to the card, althought the current draw shown was 3.3A . ii) there was a power grid in my town shutdown lately, may be there was voltage surge that caused my computer internet card shut down automatically and the mesa card failed (?)
I don't have proper lab supply, but i will try to input +12v to unreg logic PWR +IN on TB3 to investigate again. On the other hand, shall i directly input +5v to TB2 stepper drivers' +5v socket pin to investigate (ie which components get hot)?

need to read 0-5V signal at 20mA ..... when can see 0-1-2-3-4-5V signal is enought for me ... no more of these pecision ....

The mesa analogs are full scale @36 volts. (well the 7i76e is)
I would use a LM358 signal amplifier to step up to 20-22 volts max given a 24v reference voltage. You can get pre built modules from eBay/Amazon/AliExpress for $2 or less.
