Hi all
I do have a mobius one camera, which I got working, including crosshairs in axis up and working, following the instruction here: wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Axis_Embed_Video.

However, I fail to get camview installed. the wiki page referred to, points to psha.org.ru/b/camview-emc.html. Following that page I did:
Code:
    echo "deb http://psha.org.ru/debian/ buster contrib" >> /etc/apt/sources.list     cat /etc/apt/sources.list | grep psha     deb http://psha.org.ru/debian/ buster contrib     LANG=C apt-key adv --fetch-keys http://psha.org.ru/debian/pubkey.gpg     Executing: /tmp/apt-key-gpghome.KOn68NhVoU/gpg.1.sh --fetch-keys http://psha.org.ru/debian/pubkey.gpg     gpg: requesting key from 'http://psha.org.ru/debian/pubkey.gpg'     gpg: key 371656DF65774D8D: "Debian Archive (autosign) <debian@psha.org.ru>" not changed     gpg: Total number processed: 1     gpg: unchanged: 1     # The unchanged is because that printout is from second run     # imho it says, the key is successfully installed     LANG=C apt update     Hit:1 http://security.debian.org/debian-security buster/updates InRelease     Hit:2 http://deb.debian.org/debian buster InRelease     Hit:3 http://deb.debian.org/debian buster-updates InRelease     Hit:4 http://psha.org.ru/debian buster InRelease     Hit:5 http://www.linuxcnc.org buster InRelease     Reading package lists... Done     Building dependency tree     Reading state information... Done     2 packages can be upgraded. Run 'apt list --upgradable' to see them.     apt-get upgrade     # output omitted as it is unrelated     LANG=C apt-get install camview     Reading package lists... Done     Building dependency tree     Reading state information... Done     E: Unable to locate package camview

Why do I get this error?

At the very bottom of that Wiki page it says "Last edited March 28, 2011 10:28 pm by Psha" so it might well be very out of date.

This one appears to be newer: wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Adding_Camview

More up-to-date still is probably "cam_align" Try searching the forum for that.

Hi again
Not sure this is still the right thread. If not, : @ mods: feel free to move it to a new thread, tia

Fiddled around a bit and did a lot of reading too (doing the very rtfm smiley, shame on me)

Besed on the suggetstions of both, andypugh and bari, I dropped all camview stuff in favour of cam_align, and: I got some success!
I have a tab in axis, showing cam pic, simple cross hairs and a small circle. downside: takes quite some time to start axis, about 30 secs or so. Just a bit of an annoyance, not an issue though. If I start from commandline, I see a ton of messages:

Questions:

    Is this normal?
        If not: how to remedy?

Can you attach the messages? Otherwise we are just guessing.

Where does it spend the time? I would guess at the "Waiting for component 'qtvcp_embed' to become ready..." stage?

You can make some of the cruft disappear by adding the missing items to the [DISPLAY] section of the INI {and probably should, just so you end up with sensible values in the GUI).

I don't know how serious the bad-drawable errors are. Are they regular and continuous?

There should be a sim: axis/qtvcp/qtvcp_tab available.
Can you try it and see if there is a big delay too ?

It works on 2.8.4 here without any noticeable startup delay, the "BadDrawable" messages only seem to appear during shutdown.

I do see these at the top of your messages, I have no idea what they are or whether they cause any issues.
Code:
# handle_includes(): <35> found #INCLUDE with no filename # handle_includes(): <36> CANNOT READ nosuchfile

# handle_includes(): <35> found #INCLUDE with no filename
# handle_includes(): <36> CANNOT READ nosuchfile

maybe it has to do with this?
