This Gigabyte Brix is driving me nuts. From yesterday to today at least the BIOS retained it's settings, but the thing keeps freezing on me, despite all the CPU magic being turne off. I have been trying to get teh buildbot upgrade to 2.8 to work for me, but it is hard when it freezes just while you are typing the new addresses.

I am starting to think about ditching the Brix for something else. Anyone have experience with an Intel NUC DN2820FYKH?

Does your DVM have a min/max memory?
Monitor the voltage from the power brick, see if you can detect any dips in voltage. Using RealTime kernels uses a bit more power so might be that.

Thanks, the bios has five options for DVMT
32M
64M
128M
256M
512M.

I have it set for 32MB at present. Would other settings be worth checking? I figured reserving the least memory for graphics would be best?

Luckily I added an extra tap on that 19V PSU for the little PWM-analog adapter, so I can hook my baby Osci in there to check the voltage.

That is not enough, set it to 256 for XCFE or 512 for Mate .

I was trying to add the correct buildbot URL's when it froze up. Should this be correct to update to 2.8?

I was monitoring DC, and there was no obvious spike. The PSU outputs a pretty solid 19V, with just a very faint 50Hz ripple overlaid.

The next one shows the psu without a load,

... and the trace just after it froze again. There was no obvious sag or spike.

Okay. I'm running XFCE so I'll set 256MB. Thanks.

Still froze up with 256MB selected. I'll try 512MB

EDIT:
With 512MB it still freezes up.

I found a thread somewhere where a guy had freezing problems with Debian, but not with Mint. Seeing as I obvious mixed up the various ISO's I downloaded and burnt and have Debian installed when I thought it would be mint, I am tempted to do another clean install, with the mint ISO and see if that works (the CD-ROM mounting issue during install) and doesn't freeze up?
