Oh christ who came up with this springy pcb clippy idea? that's just so brilliant (and useful)!!!

Double-ditto.

I would love a step file version of that that I can modify to fit whatever.  My printed DIN rail adapters are ok-ish, but pretty kludgy compared to Fletch's.

A bit off-topic, but that seems to be the theme of my threads...

I've uploaded various width .step files of the base print-in-place Din rail mount to Printables here:

www.printables.com/model/849842-din-rail-mounts

You'll have to add your own 'ears' to attach things.

Thank you so much. Will try to build one asap and willing to try on OMP-60.

There are some precise water leveling systems like these
www.precisiontools.biz/tools2/pwl/
www.wylerag.com/en/products/communicatin...icating-water-level/
www.wylerag.com/fileadmin/pdf/manuel/Com...g_Water_Level_77.pdf
They follow the curvature of earth so there are pretty accurate
for linear leveling ways when build up a machine or machine leveling...

Because water is polar molecule there is surface tension between water and hose-cups so if forms meniscus at the edge
but because cups are 50mm x 50mm meniscus formed only at the edges of cups and not in the center.
Addition of surfactant to water helps to reduce water tension.
A micrometer with a needle attached to it probe water surface and detect
differential height between surfaces.

Can resistance probe modified and used in Z axis instead of micrometer
to detect touch with water of other liquid?
This will be very simple to level machine and machine ways
with very much accuracy without special instruments.
Dro of Z will show the height difference instead of micrometer and detection
touch of probe with liquid by vision.

Because deionized water has more consistent density and DI water is not conductive
so resistance probe will be useless can be used capacitance probe ?

There are precision levels, one brand is the Taylor Hobson Talyvel. It has a small sensor unit that is about 5" square, and can easily detect arc second changes. Slipping a human hair under one end drives it completely off scale.

I have one obtained surplus on eBay. it reads out to 0.1 arc second and after factory calibration is supposed to be accurate to 0.2 arc second. When I put it on the bed of my 3500 Lb. lathe it easily detects the change when I walk from one end of the lathe to the other. The advantage of this is it has magnetic damping so that if you pick up the sensor and place it on a surface, it settles within 2 seconds! A water level or oil bubble master precision level takes at least 30 seconds to settle.

I have 2 simple classic cast iron rectangle precision levels 0.02mm/m (one new made in china and one old made in germany ) the problem is that they lost calibration and are very difficult to use them succesfully in practice.
I have tried the communicating vessels approach and was much easier in practice
cheaper and does not need calibration .
