Hi JT,

when doing so linux gives a lot of errors and wouldn't start:
Error in startup script: no such variable, and a configuration error is preventing linuxCNC from starting

I was able to reproduce the bug and a temporary work around is to open a terminal and issue the following commands to start master.
Code:
export LINUXCNCVERSION=999 export LINUXCNC_EMCSH=wish export LINUXCNC_TCL_DIR=/usr/lib/tcltk/linuxcnc/ linuxcnc name_of_ini_file.ini

Also note that the key to setting up a twin motor gantry is in setting the [KINS] section of the ini correct.

linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/config/ini-...g.html#_kins_section

If your using online docs make sure your looking at Master.

To update a buildbot deb (the bug was fixed) in a terminal:
Code:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages will be upgraded: linuxcnc-doc-en linuxcnc-uspace 2 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 18.8 MB of archives. After this operation, 1,024 B of additional disk space will be used. Do you want to continue [Y/n]? y

And you should be good to go with master again.

Hello,

this is my 1st post in this Forum. (I'm 36 and a newbie in Linux and LinuxCNC.)

anyway i hope you could help on my issue.
(It can be that it is a misinterpretation from my side)

according that documentation the extended functionality of trivkins seems available since 2.7.4.
Ive installed from actual IsoImage and ran updates so it shows 2.7.8 - but when trying to start EMC it shows
trivkins: Unknonwn parameter 'coordinates'

so i'm not sure if i need to install a different version - to get my Gantry up and running
