Though possibly worth pointing out that that the actual limit-switch wiring there is a little unusual and should probably not be copied exactly.

You have a point, it is a bit different but there's reasoning behind it.

I modified it to reflect a more standard input scheme. See attached:

Hi there! I m trying to configure my retrofit using pncconf. I m using the 7i77 & 5i25 kit too and have a couple of questions.

On the Motor configuration window, how do I choose the values for the PID info? I found some guides where only the P value is entered as 1.000, but in my case the pre-selected value was 50.000.

One of my motors uses a 24V powered brake. I think I need to directly wire it to an output pin on the 7i77. Any ideas on that?

Thanks everyone in advance, please ask for any more information I need to provide

LinuxCNC does not have any built-in pins for axis motor brakes. Typically you would connect the brake release to the same HAL pin as the amp-enable, though probably to a different physical output pin.

The 7i77 max output load according to the manual is 300mA. Is that going to be enough to open and hold your brake? I kind of doubt that. You will probably need a relay.

The brake needs 0.5A, so I' ll try using a relay connected to my psu and the amp-enable to disable it.

Be aware that you might need a short delay before releasing the brake.

Thanks for noting! I am aware, I might need to place a timer on the enable signal, I m not sure yet how I ll implement it. I manually tried enabling and debraking at the same time and the drive presented an error because the brake caused over-current. When I complete the circuit I ll post the results.

Take a look at my HAL file, got help from here to set this up with brake. Enables drivers with 5sec delay for releasing brake.
