In that case, the stepconf wizard is the best way to create a new config. Have you run that yet?

I tried it but I was waiting for you instructions. I have no idea about the inputs of stepconfig and how to set it.

Sorry, but I'm stuck with the pins definition to fit the gantry setup.

I guess that you have read the docs?
linuxcnc.org/docs/master/html/config/stepconf.html
But have realised that that does not give any indication how to configure a gantry.

You should probably set up the secondary motor as "A" but you will then need to manually alter the HAL and INI files.

There is some gantry-specific information here:
linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/getting-sta..._configuration_files

Yes, I have read the docs of Stepconfig.
I can't set up a secondary A axis. Also, I can't alter the HAL manually without a GUI.
I looked at the last link. In fact I can't create a configuration for any type of kins.
May I send you the mechanical and electrical specification of the machine and you create the INI and the HAL files, please?

I may be way off, but my understanding that if you are going to run a 4th axis on a plasma table, you use a separate config that uses the X axis drive to turn the rotary table. (eg you will have 2 different machines configured)

You modify the steps per machine unit to agree with the circumference of the part you are cutting.

Then you use software that unrwaps the tube surface and the machine does not know its cutting tube...

Google Coping calculator. Here is an example www.metalgeek.com/static/cope.pcgi
but there are CNC based versions as well. I understand sheetcam has a rotary POST.

If its square tube you are cutting, then the THC takes care of the torch to material distance.

Hi, rodw. My problem is not the rotary, now. It's the gantry squaring. That's why I asked for the JA setup.I think that swapping the axes may be a solution. But now I need to know how to configure Hal pins and INI file parameters.
