Yes, Pi400 remains a problem. (I have one)

But the Pi400 _probably_ isn't a good CNC controller candidate?

The LinuxCNC docs now point at a (renamed) version of the 3G limited image, with warnings that it is known to not work on all variants.

andypugh, according to my latest test (see my previous post), the www.linuxcnc.org/temp/image_2021-01-20-linuxcnc-pi4-3G.zip does work on Pi 8GB. Wlan and USB are ok.

There might be a fix in the kernel discussed here:
github.com/kdoren/linux/discussions/3#discussioncomment-389373
There is a downloadable kernel image deb here:
github.com/kdoren/linux/releases/tag/5.10.16-rt30

(I have not tried it)

EDIT: Apologies for the redundant post, the 2.8.1 image works for me. linuxcnc.org/downloads/ still only shows 2.8.0 which is where the confusion occured. I found the 2.8.1 image in the end at linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/getting-start...tml#_normal_download

Hi I'm having the same issue (no mouse, no keyboard) with the raspberry pi 4b 4Gb model.
I'm able to ssh in to the pi, here is the output for uname -a:
Code:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ uname -a Linux raspberrypi 4.19.71-rt24-v7l+ #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Fri Jan 1 21:15:16 GMT 2021 armv7l GNU/Linux
Here is also the output of lsmod just incase it helps:
Code:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ lsmod Module Size Used by bnep 20480 2 hci_uart 40960 1 btbcm 16384 1 hci_uart serdev 20480 1 hci_uart bluetooth 380928 24 hci_uart,bnep,btbcm ecdh_generic 28672 1 bluetooth 8021q 32768 0 garp 16384 1 8021q stp 16384 1 garp llc 16384 2 garp,stp brcmfmac 315392 0 brcmutil 20480 1 brcmfmac sha256_generic 20480 0 cfg80211 634880 1 brcmfmac vc4 176128 0 rfkill 28672 6 bluetooth,cfg80211 bcm2835_codec 36864 0 drm_kms_helper 184320 1 vc4 bcm2835_v4l2 45056 0 v4l2_mem2mem 24576 1 bcm2835_codec bcm2835_mmal_vchiq 32768 2 bcm2835_codec,bcm2835_v4l2 v4l2_common 16384 1 bcm2835_v4l2 v3d 65536 0 snd_soc_core 184320 1 vc4 videobuf2_dma_contig 20480 1 bcm2835_codec videobuf2_vmalloc 16384 1 bcm2835_v4l2 snd_compress 20480 1 snd_soc_core gpu_sched 28672 1 v3d videobuf2_memops 16384 2 videobuf2_dma_contig,videobuf2_vmalloc snd_bcm2835 24576 1 snd_pcm_dmaengine 16384 1 snd_soc_core videobuf2_v4l2 24576 3 bcm2835_codec,bcm2835_v4l2,v4l2_mem2mem raspberrypi_hwmon 16384 0 syscopyarea 16384 1 drm_kms_helper snd_pcm 98304 4 vc4,snd_pcm_dmaengine,snd_bcm2835,snd_soc_core drm 442368 5 v3d,vc4,gpu_sched,drm_kms_helper hwmon 16384 1 raspberrypi_hwmon videobuf2_common 45056 4 bcm2835_codec,bcm2835_v4l2,v4l2_mem2mem,videobuf2_v4l2 sysfillrect 16384 1 drm_kms_helper drm_panel_orientation_quirks 16384 1 drm sysimgblt 16384 1 drm_kms_helper snd_timer 32768 1 snd_pcm videodev 200704 6 bcm2835_codec,v4l2_common,videobuf2_common,bcm2835_v4l2,v4l2_mem2mem,videobuf2_v4l2 fb_sys_fops 16384 1 drm_kms_helper vc_sm_cma 36864 1 bcm2835_mmal_vchiq snd 73728 7 snd_compress,snd_timer,snd_bcm2835,snd_soc_core,snd_pcm media 36864 3 bcm2835_codec,videodev,v4l2_mem2mem rpivid_mem 16384 0 uio_pdrv_genirq 16384 0 fixed 16384 0 uio 20480 1 uio_pdrv_genirq i2c_dev 20480 0 ip_tables 24576 0 x_tables 32768 1 ip_tables ipv6 454656 30

the image at
www.linuxcnc.org/temp/image_2021-01-20-linuxcnc-pi4-3G.zip
is a 404 not found

and the image
www.linuxcnc.org/iso/linuxcnc-2.8.1-pi4.zip
does 'work'
it gets you an image that has usb and wifi
but has memory limited to 3078 in config-rt.txt.

so
there is no fix for the usb wifi memory problem

there is a work-around for the usb and wifi problem,
and that 'fix' requires limiting memory on 4 and 8 gig Pi's,

I followed both threads end to end hoping for better..
But, better does not exist yet ( 15apr2021 )

Thanks, I will try your newest 64 bit image

I thought we were asked to continue on a different thread

Also, can we move this discussion to one thread, ie this one:

Sorry I missed your post, thanks for the work.
I will monitor the suggested thread .
