Truetype-Tracer not working in Nativecam

Hi,
I have succeeded with getting nativecam installed and so far all of the subroutines work except the truetype-tracer.

This is what I am getting.

Error with subprocess: returncode = 255
output = o<ttt_001_engrave> sub

o<ttt_001_engrave> endsub

e= Command '' returned non-zero exit status 255

Truetype is obviously installed but it has me stumped on how to get it working properly.
Please let me know if you need additional info.

Thank you n advance for your help.

Bill

I have checked the paths and it seems that tt-t is in the correct place. I don't know what I am missing. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Linux Mint 18.2 Linuxcnc 2.7.10 NativeCam .deb install.

Thanks

Hi,

The list says you have truetype-tracer_3.0-2, is it right ?
Last version is 4.1-4

Try to update
Also try without params $ truetype-tracer

Fern

Thank you Fern,

Updating the ttt has removed the error return code 255 but now NativeCam is giving me random line errors stating that it cannot open /scripts/ncam.ngc whenever I try to use any subroutine

I am not sure what you meant by "try without params $ truetype-tracer

Thank you for your help and patience in solving this issue.

Bill

It is possible that lcnc reports the wrong message. Make sure you have a tool small enough to cut your shape without gouging the workpiece

skrap58 wrote: ...I am not sure what you meant by "try without params $ truetype-tracer

In a terminal if you simply enter the command : 'truetype-tracer' without params, it should print gcode to engrave 'Hello world'

Fern

Hi Fern,

The truetype-tracer in terminal does as expected returning the gcode for "Hello World" but NativeCam in linuxcnc is giving me random line errors and all of them state /scripts/ncam.ngc file cannot be read. he file is in the /ncam/scripts directory so I don't understand why I am getting the error messages. This just started after updating to the latest version of tt-t

Hi Bill,

Run lcnc in a terminal and post the content of the terminal as well as ncam.ngc that lcnc can not load.

You may have to uninstall NativeCam and start over

Regards
Fern

Thank you again for all of your help.

Hi Bill,

I recommend you do all this

• Start lcnc and check your version of NativeCAM with Menu->Help->About then exit lcnc. Update to version 0.1.8 if you still have 0.1.7
• Delete '/home/wwp/linuxcnc/configs/my-mill/ncam' completely
• Restart lcnc. It should start with a new template using End Mill Change
• Select a tool from the list no larger than 10 mm in diameter
• Add a circle after End Mill Change.
• If lcnc does not load 'ncam.ngc' try to open it with Axis or Gmoccapy which ever you use.
• If not successful attach '/home/wwp/linuxcnc/configs/my-mill/my-mill.ini' adding '.txt' to the extension when you reply
• Also attach '/home/wwp/linuxcnc/configs/my-mill/ncam/scripts/ncam.ngc' adding '.txt' to the extension

Nothing seems wrong at first sight. Maybe updating NativeCAM will change something. However I really need to see your inifile

Regards
Fern

Hi Fern,

Deleting ncam completely and restarting lcnc seems to have worked . No more error messages. Thank you very much for your help. I am looking forward to using the functionality of NativeCam.

Thanks again

Bill
