Hey Andy
halrun was modified by tormach and is in the ~/tmc/scripts directory. on a stock pathpilot install there seem to be missing files also. in the source they are there but even then I could not get it to work. things like EMC2_HOME is not defined. it can't find linuxcnc_module_helper this is rather i ran rip-environment.sh or not. maybe i'm doing something wrong.

Sorry, I hadn't noticed that this was the Pathpilot section.

I know nothing about Pathpilot.

if you got the live cd you can boot your pathpilot pc from the CD and setup linuxcnc no need to install. just run from the CD
then you can boot between the two setups easy.

So, got all booted up into LinuxCNC, made a new config for my mill and opened up Axis. Within Halmeter there I am able to successfully see myself tripping my inductive limit switch that I have wired to INPUT-01. So this leaves me wondering why it wont read into Pathpilot. Im going to compare the two hal files and see if theres any glaring omission I should add.

Hi
Haven't given up, just been looking and I see something in you hal file. you have
loadrt hm2_pci config=" num_encoders=0 num_pwmgens=1 num_3pwmgens=0 num_stepgens=5 "

try changing to
loadrt hm2_pci config=" num_encoders=0 num_pwmgens=1 num_3pwmgens=0 num_stepgens=5 enable_raw sserial_port_0=0xxxxx"

see if that makes a difference

That did not make any change, I saw that as well and tried it in my comparison I just did.

From running in native linuxCNC I now know that Halmeter is dynamic, so I should be able to see the changes there live.

can you provide your
*.ini
*.hal including the postgui.hal files

I'd like to run them on my set up which I know is working and see if I can reproduce your problem.
if I can then troubleshooting becomes much easier
