Use the configuration files I posted on Monday! The ones you just posted are old files that will not allow homing of the Z axis and have some other problems with inconsistent and illogical values in the .ini.

@rodw: I noticed that, which made it all the more confusing. I just went through all my wiring when I cleaned up my box, I'll check it again just to be sure.

@Islander261: I wanted to isolate the issues and deal with one variable at a time before changing up the files. I'll try them out right now.

Thats what can happen when somebody writes something for you and does not have your hardware. All you need to do is to locate the line in John's config starting with
And replace it with the same line in your working config

Got it, that's what I did last time. I'll try it again and see how she chooches.

Sorry, I misunderstood the hostmot2 documentation about requiring enumeration of solid state relay outputs. Do as Rod said. Also you will need to comment out or delete this line:
setp hm2_7i96.0.ssr.0.rate 1000000

Excellent; it fired up well and I was able to activate my float without it throwing a "joint 3 on limit" error. I wasn't able to jog or home my Z axis. I'll load up some gcode and do some dry runs.

Ok, Z can't move yet. Add the following to Z axis section in Hays_Plasma....hal:

net z-enable <= joint.3.amp-enable-out
net z-enable => hm2_7i96.0.stepgen.03.enable

You should also consider changing the homing order in the .ini file to home the Z first.

I am still not clear about homing Z when using the TOMA THC.hal though it should work because as far as the THC.hal knows it is the same as a jog.

Thanks, hopefully that'll do it and report back with an update tomorrow.

2 nights ago i did some editing of the files that Icelander provided, it got to late so forgot to copy them to the USB but here is some info:
-there are some lines with DDT that are commented out in THC.hal, they have to be enabled for THC to work, so the lines regarding DDT have to be copied from stepper.hal to hayes_plasma.hal
loadrt ddt count=2
addf ddt.0 servo-thread
addf ddt.1 servo-thread
Also the lines regarding Estop-latch have to be copied there and the e-stop lines at the end of that file have to commented out.
- there are missing provisions for the spindle in the hayes_plasma.hal, so M3 or F9 will not work, they have to be added.

As a side note, it would have been much easier to use the servo version that is located here and just edit the lines concerning the Z axis and the servo to stepper on other axis.
