Thanks Stefan, I have pushed it to Git.thefabricator03 wrote: Yes it does, I must of stuffed up my wiring but I dont know how it still works. Maybe that is why the USB to RS485 connector did not work.

Magic. Truthfully I still don't understand how you don't need a RS-232 to RS-485 converter either. But, I'm OK chalking it up to Magic.

I thought Stefan was still using the RS485 converter that came with is USB interface.

As far as I can tell, that's just a break out board.

Yes but the 16C950 UART on the Interface card supports RS485 and RS232

Yea, I actually saw that as well, but the actual card documentation makes no mention of support for it. Supposedly the card I had could do it too (same thing, the chip definitely can) but I wasn't able to get it to work without the converter. I'm sure in my case it's a driver thing and I don't have the hacker skillz to make it work on Linux, plus all the supporting documentation was based around Windows.
One of those times where the time investment to get it to work wasnt worth the ~$20 shipped from amazon to press on. But still, I wish it would have "just worked". Apparently Stefan does have the magic card.

The more I thought about it the more I liked the Hypertherm mapping diagram so I modified the reference document to show it. I think it looks better - please find attached.

No I am using the connector from the converter but not the converter. Still cant figure out how it is working. Its just a straight through connector.
