Logon for PathPilot v2.04 on a Tormach 770 was created by lelapinblanc
I am beginning initial research on the best design for adding a logon to PathPilot v2.0x.
Is the best approach to add the logon functionality to the base linux system, cnclinux, or as a function within PathPilot?
I am a Microsoft .NET programmer with ancient experience on Debian systems from around Y2K.
I plan to develop with an Oracle Virtual Box on a 64 bit Windows machine, and initially I will probably go with linux mint as the kernel.
All advice appreciated.

I would just enable logon at the OS level, implementing a logon and hence security into LinucCNC or Pathpilot is only going to open a can of worms there let alone be something you'd have to support.
Going with OS level logon (which is easy to do) is the way to go in my opinion.
is there a specific reason you want this functionality?

I understand what you are saying. I went ahead and disabled autologon. I understand that a future feature in PathPilot will be individual accounts for logon.logoff. The reason we are doing this is to stop unauthorized access in a unmanned maker space.
Thank you for your input. I agree
