Path Pilot and spindle encoder

In my Bit file for teh 7i80 there are 3 encoders 1,2,3 . I need to use #3 because it is on teh BOB that can read encoder indexes. The BOBs for 1and 2 encoders teh optis are not fast enough to read teh Index signal.

Lets me see if I have this correct. I have to set encoder = 3 in order to use encoder #3 but then I loose teh use of teh 6 pins for 1and 2 as I only need 1 encoder. And I cannot just set teh encoders =1 because then I would have to use teh BOB with slow opti.

OR I need a new bit file that only defines 1 encoder on teh port that has fast opti.

Is that about right ??

Also teh reference code I found is all for LPT versions not a Mesa card version and it appears different. Does anyone know of a reference to teh code needed for a 7i80 to install teh spindle encoder in PathPilot ??

You do not lose the ability to use any encoder pins as inputs if you enable
all encoders (0,1,2 in this case)

You do lose the ability to set the encoder pins to output mode

OK I have teh spindle encoder patched in I believe I still have to test it tommorow with an MPG I have here. I should be able to see teh encoder signals somewhere (
