Unknown function (gtag-26)

I've been switching between PathPilot 1.9.13 and a recent upgrade to 2.6.0.

Today going back to PP 1 which required a mesa flash I noticed this comment/warning/error:

hm2: Firmware contains unknown function (tag-26)

Never noticed this when switching between 1.9.13 and 2.1.3

Mesa card is 6i25.

Doesn't appear to be causing a problem, just wondering what's going on?

If i remember correctly, that is due to the version of mesaflash being older.

What that message means is that there is a firmware module in the 6I25 that
the older PP does not know about (tag 26 is the DPLL module) If you look at
the PP main hal file you should see the DPLL mentioned in 2.x but not 1.x

I would expect the 1.x installation to have older pre-DPLL firmware. I thought PP
always re-wrote the firmware so it does seem a bit odd that PP 1.x is seeing the
firmware updated by 2.x

I hunted down what the msg was about in the hostmot2 sources.

mesaflash does flash the chip every time I switch PP major versions.

I'm just puzzled as to how the msg appeared in the PP 1 status tab after the obligatory power off reboot. It's also in the log file twice at different places. Successive reboots don't show the msg or log it.

Odd.

I suspect that whatever re-writes the firmware does not do a reload after the re-write so
the firmware update is out of sync by one power-cycle (the fact that its fixed after the next
power cycle seems to confirm this)

Both PathPilot versions request a power cycle after a mesa flash.

After changing INI/HAL files I just a do reboot, not a power cycle which is not needed.

I'm starting to think on this occasion I may have just done a reboot (no power cycle) after going from PP2 to PP1

Sorry for bothering everyone.
