Stahlwerk Plasma Cutters THC Interface was created by Nilres
Hi,I'm currently on my journey to build a CNC Plasma Cutter. For the plasma source I'm looking into the Stahlwerk Line-Up of Plasma Cutters (Cut70 or Cut100). All Stahlwerk Cutters have a build in THC Connector. What I can't figure out is if this connector is already divided. Or if an external divider circuit is needed. The Manual just says that it is used to connect the cutter to a CNC controller. Does anyone have detailed information? Or own such a device at has already checked the voltage levels? Greetings

If it's this one www.stahlwerk-schweissgeraete.de/plasmas...t70-pilotzuendung-en
I would look at one that doesn't use HF start. You don't want HF start in cnc table.
Generally, blowback start is what you want.

The THC voltage is raw cutting voltage. a THCAD can use this with the right scaling resistors. I would expect there are some resistors between these terminals and the cutting terminals to avoid lethal current! Check with a multimeter.
here the thcad manual is your friend. 200 V full scale will be best but 300v is also Ok

They are good and have a few years warranty, but aim for 70A at least, the exact one that Hakan proposed.

Black ones, maybe, the white ones not all for sure. All Stahlwerk Cutters have a build in THC Connector.

Yes i am, i have 3 or 4 of those in daily use, 1 with Proma THC150 and others with Mesa THCAD.
I also have a china one with same electronics and pilot arc, the HF type, i intentionally wired the THCAD10 to the main terminals with 1MOhm resistors on each side, still in daily use for nearly a year, no issues.
The thing is, with correct wiring and grounding and shielding, it works fine, but any wiring error will result in burnt electronics the first time the torch fires, hence i refrain from advising such things.

Thanks for the support.
I think my initial question is answered. I will look how I safly devide the voltage to get it into my control logic.
The information about HF start vs. Blowbackstart are also helpful. I know that the Stahlwerk machines are not "perfect" but I hope they offer a fairly good compromise for the price.
Greetings
Nils

Pretty sure they have 7 years of warranty, and for me that is more than enough.
