Check the config folder, usually there are config files that have been copied and extension changed to bak or similar.
But first, why you do not have a zipped and backed up config folder? Takes about 5 seconds. Copy to USB another 2 minutes.
Back on topic, copy the folder somewhere else before changing the extensions and testing, use the text editor to figure out what might be the good config and what not.
And do mind what is changed or moved or renamed.

Hey Tommy I checked config folder. All linuxcnc files are backuped but not the qtdragon.pref
I know idiot I had old backup but I am still tweaking stuff and just did not do it.
Probably good idea if qtdragon create backups by itself for idiots like me.

Change the memory, hard drive and/or power supply.
If that keeps happening it is a sure sign one of them is failing, in that order.
Although there is always the possibility of the memory or hard drive controllers to fail, and they are on the mother board.

right so it might be time for new computer finally.
but why would it be happening only with the qtdragon.pref ? I would understand if it was randomly happening with other files.

That log indicates it never found a preference file when it loaded. Can you confirm there is acoreferende file being written?

The file is there but it is reset to default.
I was using the machine yesterday turned it off this morning it was all reset. the only thing I did not check is if the file was with my settings or reset at yesterdays shutdown.
I should try to remember and check the file at shutdown tonight and at powerup tomorrow. But you know how this works when I monitor it nothing will happen.
