FocusOverlay widget?

Using Linuxcnc 2.8.2

When I add the focusoverlay widget to the main screen it shows up covering the entire screen. Covering all other widgets and layouts on the screen.

What can I do to make this not be in the way of everything. It is inserted as shown in the object inspector screenshot. 

Focus widget is designer to cover the whole screen.
In principle it could be used to cover just a particular widget on the screen and in fact the original code (off the internet) was supposed to work this way.
In practice it is hard to get it to work as it does in all circumstances.

Thanks Chris. I wasn't clear. In Designer it covers everything. When active in the running UI I want it to cover everything. In Designer I want it out of the way.

The usual way is to use screen options to set up the focus overlay (property: focusOv;eryOption)
I've never seen focus overlay actual work in designer but i haven't used the raw widget in a very long time.

In the raw focus overlay widget look for designer property 'state' toggle it on then off.
The overlay will disappear.
