M67 is probably what you want. It sets the output at the moment that the next motion command starts.
Otherwise there isn't much to choose between M68 and S.
Using Z is sometimes suggested, but that can interfere with the XY motion due to path blending constraints.

Well I'm not a mind reader, but I think if you fix the error it will work.

Bonjour.

Merci d'avance.

Don't neglect the possibility of simply connecting the same physical wire to both a uart and and encoder phase.

I have an old installation of LinuxCNC made years ago by someone else on my Optiflex-7020 computer. For some reason, nothing works anymore and the guy is unreachable.
I want to start for scratch.
I plugged a blank hard drive (SATA 160Gb) in the computer, then successfully installed Linux Mint 22.1 (Cinnamon 64 bit).
From the web site linuxcnc.org/downloads/ I chose  LinuxCNC package for RTAI kernel 5.4.25  .After right clicking on the file "open with Gdebi", here is the error message that appears <the dependency cannot be satisfied : libboost-python1.74.0-py311.
Need help (I am a beginner with Linux but I can manage with steps and instructions - a bit of experience). What do you suggest? The goal is to run LinuxCNC with a simple interface and have access to basic applications (Firefox, libreOffice etc.).
Thanks in advance.

Is the "mobile" thing for setting the top of the workpiece?
This is often done manually, as only you know where the reference surface is.
If your touch-plate is wired into the probe input then you would jog to close to it, then MDI (G38,2) a probe move to it, and then touch-off in the GUI to the known thickness of the sensor.

You could automate this to an extent, assigning a macro to the probe move and the G10 command to set the height above the work.
(the GUI touch-off is generally an automated G10)

And kudos for sticking with Open Source as it's becoming sickening with all the "Only $17.99 per month" sickness ! :)

This is something I hate sooo much. Imagine paying $100,000 for a lidar scanner, and then having to pay $7500 a year for the privilege or reading the files.

I have other motivations here too. As a business, mM might succeed, it might fail, but almost guaranteed in 15 years there wont be any new parts for the machines. The way lemontart is set up, you should always be able to get parts for it, even 50 years from now where were all dead. :P
this kits is kinda a posterchild for right to repair I guess. Buy, build, mod, upgrade with full support, do whatever you like.

Electrical is an issue, cause everything would need certifications etc. So at least for now, I will leave that to the customer out of necessity.

Can i use 5A Sanyo Denki 60mm stepper motors? :)
Jokes aside, very nice project and i do agree with you on leaving electronics out of the kit, to many choices and to many ways to mess up, still you should have a set with everything included whenever you get to that point as there are people that will gladly avoid wiring.
