First cut with LinuxCNC
This is my LinuxCNC first run using HobbyCNC Pro Board on a Microcarve A4.
The motors are HobbyCNC NEMA23 -305- DS8A.

Everything runs excellent, so no complaints.
The "L" and "i" touching is probably a kerning factor. Not a problem.
But why is the logo backward?
Is that normal, something I did in the setup, or is my computer dyslexic?
What am I missing?
Thanks,
G

I would guess your direction pins are backwards on X and Y. When you jog does the tool (not the table) move in the correct direction? For example a mill with moving table the table goes left when you press the + jog key for the X axis which in effect moves the tool to the right in relation to the material.
John
I really appreciate it John.
This is the setup I am using.
Should I modify setup in Stepson wizard or just invert the X and Y?
I'll make the changes and post back the the results.
Thanks,
G

I am sure you know what the picture means, but it isn't all that clear to me.
Your X and Y directions are correct, if the captions show where the tool moves relative to the table.
Standing where the photo was taken X+ should move the spindle to the right.
Y+ should move the table towards the camera.
It's trivial to invert the direction pins in Stepconf. I have a feeling that you only need to invert one. (inverting both will give you the same mirrored pattern in the opposite quadrant)

Didn't get to play with the machine as I planned last night.
Andy you make a good point. Just sitting here with graph paper and trying to figure out the X and Y coordinates by quadrant was burning my brain. I might need more coffee.
What you said makes perfect sense. The table moving along the Y Axis is what has me confused.
Inverting the Y axis (where Y+ means the table moves toward the camera) will solve the problem.
I'm embarrassed to admit it, but had I taken the time to flip or mirror the picture top to bottom in a paint program, I would have seen what was happening.
Still going to test it and post back the results, but in my mind, you nailed it.
Thanks!
