Flood/Mist Coolant? was created by B.Reilly01
Getting everything set up, and i have flood coolant available on all my machines, but have questions about what to use. I have a manual lathe, an automatic surface grinder, and a Hurco SM-1 CNC w/LinuxCNC. The Hurco is basically a bridgeport knee mill. So what do you guys use? If possible, I'd like to use the same coolant/cutting oil on all machines, and the machines will sit unused for up to a week at a time, so rust is a concern. Also, stink. Mostly machining steel and aluminum, don't need to push the hard edge of speeds/feeds, but also want to avoid work hardening. I run both carbide and HSS.

Just buy a water soluble coolant mix and mix it to specifications. Mine can sit for months without being used and stink and rust have never been a problem. Its all just a load of bull what you read online .....
