I made a fresh install using ´linuxcnc_2.9.1-amd64.hybrid.iso´ image and managed then to get mesaflash working. now i have the following questions

1. I managed to flash the firmware "7i92t_7i85x2d.bin" to the 7I92TH card, Is this the correct firmware for my board setup?

2. Next step to setup/test the outputs and inputs?

when i try to run pnfcconf and set the board name to "Source" it does not seem to recognize the card name("Pncconf doesnt recognize the board name") and no firmware is available in the firmware drop down menu.

Choose 7i92 in PncConf, make a simple config and run it.

Using Mesa CT to create base config. works fine and can communicate with 7i92th.

Since Mesa CT does not support 7i83 analog servo mode configuration, i need some help configuring this servo loop, reading encoders at 7i85 and putting out analog signals at 7i73.

Support documents available?

If i remove the lines containing "stepgen" in main.hal, i can run the config in linuxCNC, but not been able to get any signals to 7i84 yet..

You could create a 7I92 configuration for a 7I77 and the change the references to
the analog 7I77 outputs to 7I83. The 7I83 enables also have different names than
on the 7I77, so those would need to be changed also. The sserial channel number
will also likely need to be changed.

To get all the actual hardware pin and parameter names, start a LinuxCNC configuration
with the 7I83 connected and powered and run this command in a  terminal:

halcmd show all hm2

Thänks PCW, this helped a lot. I can see both SS cards now, and signal names, and copy paste from 7i77 HAL. Also i can read digital inputs from 7i84 with hal-meter, so this is great news. Need to order EXE converters now for linear encoders, and carry on with some installation work on the machine.

Cheers!

Have installed the Mesa cards and tested the general I/Os on the machine now. I just now realized i have the philips 2480/10 encoders for which it is hard to find adapting electronics to TTL, i found this anyway and looks decent: www.bulgarianindustry.bg/assets/cms/File...verter_datasheet.pdf
Awaiting response from them..

Another option would be new cheap import linear TTL encoders, but would be nice to keep the original Philips, which probably have even better accuracy than new Chinese ones..

Any other ideas for reading the linear motion on this machine?
