Hi,
My local makerspace has a pair of donated Journeyman 325s. I am retrofitting one with LinuxCNC. We have a small form factor PC that should work with a 7I97T I purchased a while back.
My plan is to leave the wiring alone as much as possible. Using 3 DB37 breakouts and a DB15 breakout. Later I will use more of the existing wiring to wire front panel switches.
The number of IOs seems very limited with only 5 relay outputs and maybe 10 inputs. The input wiring is not very clear in the machine drawings so I will have to trace them out for verification.

I have two different wiring diagrams if anyone needs them.

Linked is a Google Sheet with wiring notes.

First attempt at physically fitting everything together.

Need to work on the 24V and 5V power supply mounting.

Got LinuxCNC installed along with MESA CT. Took me a bit to figure out the mesaflash version situation. Everything is talking now, so yay.

I am a bit leery of energizing the drives as analog control is a bit more unforgiving than step/dir.

Is there any reason why I should not set my analog limits far below ±10VDC? I was thinking as low as ±2VDC to start. Definitely going to just try X first as it has the most travel.

It's often best to de-couple the linear axis when doing initial tests
so no harm is done with a runaway. (there's about a 50% chance of getting
the feedback reversed = runaway at first startup.

It's also important to have the drive enables working so a following
error will disable the drives.

I have two relay outputs I need to get wired up. The default wiring does not give direct control of the drive enable relay which in turn energizes the main contactor. There is a reset relay that latches the enable relay and an error/e-stop relay that interrupts the enable relay.

I will pull the belts off all three servos. Need to figure out the ratio in any case.

This reminds me I need to mount the XY limit switches. Some tech at the company that donated the mills physically removed them. Kind of understandable since you could not jog the machine off the limits as they outright interrupt the drive enable circuit.
