Maybe turn the linear rail upside down on X?

OP - That's a nice harmonic drive you've got there, especially with the big through-bore.

If you still need some mounting inspiration, Andy Pugh did a fantastic job of documenting his 4th axis build based on similar reducer.

How's the rigidity of the harmonic drive? I'm thinking of using mine as a B axis for the spindle. I will find one size smaller with a faster reduction for the table mounted rotory A or C axis.

How's the rigidity of the harmonic drive? 

It seems OK. The HD website quotes values for torsional stiffness, but to be honest I don't know what value would be appropriate for a milling machine, so the numbers aren't useful to me. 

But I frequently use it just as a handy way to mount round stock and have noticed no issues.
