I just reinstalled LinuxCNC from the latest live CD download.

When I start stepconf. I get the following error.

I am sure I fat figured something. But how to fix it without doing a total reinsall?

P.S. I did install Java 7. Not sure if that could have done it somehow.

I think my /etc/environment file might be messed up but don''t know what is supposed to be in there. Does anyone have a sample?

Fixed it. I had JAVA_HOME set in my environment file. I removed it. Now all is good.

Just made fresh install and I get above error message, so how do I correct this?

Installed UK language and Swedish keyboard layout.

Cheers
Bengt

Reinstall with default values = no error message.

So something is not OK with the install package.

"locale" is to do with languages, translations, keyboards etc.

You are not the first Swedish user, so I am not sure what the problem might be.

There is even a Swedish translation file, though it contains very little Swedish...
