How Do I Adjust The Monitor Resolution?? was created by hesdeadjim
I am using an ati card with a max resolution of 1920 x 1200 and an lcd monitor with a max resolution of 1280 x 1024..
linux had no problem using them as far as i can tell, but when i try to adjust the resolution to my usual 1024 x 768, i find that the max adjustment is 800 x 600..
i am using the recommended opengl ati driver and i don't have any proprietary drivers installed on the system.
i'm only a 3 day old linux user so maybe somebody could point me in the right direction?
thanks..

this is strange..
i was messing around with the bios and i accidentally crashed it....lol..
having done this many time over the years, i make it a habit of typing every setting from every menu into a document before i start to play..
that being said, when the bios crashed it sent my pc into an infinite reboot loop, and the only way i could get out of it was to turn the power switch off and clear the cmos via the motherboard jumper..
to make a reallllly long story short, i set the bios back to where it was before i messed with it, but suddenly, i have full video resolution and my latency numbers are way less than they were before all this happened...
i triple checked the settings and they are right on the money..
old latency numbers:
1006544 - 10222 - 34941 - 10883
new latency numbers:
1004461 - 7956 - 33400 - 9095
does anybody have any idea how this happened??

800x600 means that Ubuntu does not have a driver for your video card.
