New Intel atom motherboards good latency? was created by grandixximo
Since it's getting harder to find the D525 or the D300 atom motherboards, does anyone knows if the newer D2500 and N2800 have also good latency?
With isolcpus and smi loaded i can get a good 4000 to 15000 max latency with the D300, can anyone confirm that the latency for the newer CPUs are on these levels also?
EDIT:
After some in depth search on google, i found some rather interesting things about Intel's new Atom motherboards, they are not supported with Ubuntu, mostly it's the graphic chip GMA 3600 that does not have drivers on Ubuntu, this is a big let down, guess i'll have to wait for 2013 next generation of Atom processor that will return to use Intel graphics chip.

Hi
Have a look at the posts in this topic on the user lists
www.mail-archive.com/emc-users@lists.sou...ge.net/msg38083.html
It appears the latency is OK per se but the graphics chipset is closed source PowerVR SGX 545 GPU instead of the previous Intel one.
This has caused lots of problems for windoze users and there is no Linux driver.
If you use the standard vesa driver ( and presumably the isolcpus boot option too) , its latency appears to be OK, but the display may not please.
regards

I read your post just after i finish editi.
I guess that's that then, i'm stuck with older atoms until the new ones go back to use Intel graphics.
Thank you

I am using a DN2800 with Ubuntu 10.04 and LinuxCNC.
It's fine as long as 1024x768, 800x600 or 640x480 is usable.
"No graphics driver for Ubuntu" doesn't mean "no graphics". It still does default VGA out of the VGA connector.
