P.S. I live in Missouri KC area

I'd really like to explore the potential extra I/O's from the second para port. If it didn't have that I'd just go with the other one. I'm just worried about it's performance.

As far as LinuxCNC goes it will do fine, just don't try and do big graphics applications IIRC.

It would be used as a dedicated machine controller running Linuxcnc. Can you tell me what the latency numbers are?

They were pretty good, IIRC the numbers were in the NC Box thread somewhere.

Replied by ArcEye on topic Has anyone tried this Mini?

See the later pages of the thread re this.

It is not a parallel port but GPIO arranged into 3 banks of pins. Takes a standard ribbon cable plug, I cut an IDE cable down for the tests.
Seems pretty useful and I think you can designate IN or OUT, so no wasted OUT pins you don't need.

You may have some issues upgrading to the 2.6.30 kernel I built if you want it networked.
I have just been through it all recently with another member who is using one so hopefully it is all fresh in my mind if you have problems.

regards
