I've got two of these atom based pc's from probotox and they are cheap, work great and have the latest linuxcnc installed on them.

probotix.com/accessories/

Go down to the bottom of the page and you'll see it. This was the cheapest PC I could find that was setup for linuxcnc without me having to build one myself.

Hi

I moved this to a topic of its own

Nice to see someone selling a computer they have tested with Linuxcnc and with everything pre-installed
Will suit a lot of users

Can you do a full latency test and post the results plus the full spec of the computer
I will put it on the wiki.

regards

I ran the latency test overnight and the numbers are below.
Servo thread Max Jitter was 11,097
Base thread Max Jitter was 13,238

This is all they have on their website and I added what I thought was missing, what else do you need?

Ubuntu/LinuxCNC Control Computer
Features:

1.5Ghz Mini-ITX Motherboard
1GB RAM
250GB Hard Drive (The enclosure has an extra slot for another sata hard drive/optical drive)
Ubuntu 10.04/LinuxCNC Pre-installed
7 USB ports 5 in the back and 2 in the front
VGA monitor output
2 parallel ports
1 serial port
Wired Ethernet port
Sound card input/output/headphone jack

(No monitor, mouse, keyboard, or optical drive included)

It is a bit generic, possibly not tying themselves to a particular board so they can change as they wish

sudo apt-get install hwinfo

hwinfo --log hardware.log

and attach the hardware.log to a post please

Hwinfo installed fine but the logfile is empty, the properties of the file show 0 bytes. I ran it without the logfile option and there is quite a bit of data generated from the program so the program is working.

looks like a hwinfo bug

hwinfo --short --log hardware.log

works

Note you should use

hwinfo --short --log hardware.txt

If you are going to post the info here since only a few file types are accepted
(.txt being one of the OK ones)
