Axis locks up my pc and does not show the black section of the screen.....mouse works but stays in "little clock circle" pointer mode. we changed from 10.04 to 8.04 and I still have the problem. I have a drive with 10.04 and one with 8.04. Jt thinks it may be an opengl problem. Maybe my video card sucks or is crapping out. it's an old ati rage 128. I'd rather run 10.04 but i'm not sure what the problem is yet. Anyone seen this before?

Can you test to run gears? It is a small OpenGL benchmark, that can give you some clues about OpenGL.

Ok, I followed the instructions on www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/english/forum...-just#15974......and it looks like it is working. I'll take it to the shop today and hook it up to see. I was only able to do this for 10.04. I have another drive with 8.04 and I would like to get that working also if possible. libgl1-mesa-swx11 is not in the repository for 8.04. Where do i get that file and will it work in 8.04.

My pc is a 1999 model so i want the 8.04 as a backup in case it won't run 10.04 correctly.

Hi

The 'black square' is classic opengl problem with axis.
Does not really matter if glxgears works or not, they don't seem to tax the video enough to cause the same problems.

The software glx libs will cure it

The old ubuntu 8.04 stuff is mostly in launchpad now
launchpadlibrarian.net/13139560/libgl1-m...c2-1ubuntu3_i386.deb

You can still get the 8.04 and 6.06 from the download page if you follow the link to here.
