with LMDE2 mate and a mixture off installing the kernel with TJ's iso and linuxcnc with the online instructions for debian jessie, I manage to put all working (only in the run in place version need the rtai-modules-3.18.13.rt10mah+ that i can't find, but this is for another topic)
running the latency test and with the kernel parameters that sprintertrd told, that is my worst latency:
not in the 3k range, but i'm happy with that, and the graphics on the pc runs ok, with mint 17.2 I had poor performance...
now only have to find a way to install a run in place version, or at least linuxcnc-dev to be able to compile hal components...

wrong package, the correct is linuxcnc-uspace-dev
