I have purchased a mini-itx from:- www.mini-itx.com/store/~JNF9C-2600 I have it booted up with a solid state drive and all seems fine.
Q. Is it possible to have it switch on when first supplying it with the DC 12V as if you put a jumper on the start pins on the board it will not start. But if you just short them momentary it works fine.

Most PCs have a setting in the bios that determines if it should turn on or stay off when power is applied. Usually has 3 options off(default), last state, or always on. (you'd want the always on)

Thanks for the reply I cannot see anything in the bios for the power on state.

I think Andy has one of these boards.

I don't have your board but according to this manual,
www.jetwaycomputer.com/download/Manual/NF9C/NF9C-V2.0.pdf
Chapter 3-8 page 40-42
the setting "Restor AC Power Loss" should be in the Chipset menu under South Bridge.
I know you are not using AC to power the thing but it doesn't know that.

You are a star I had not seen that I will check it out in the morning and report back. Thanks

Edit: This works a treat under the chipset menu / south bridge there is the power settings (3 of them) I have set it to power on. All is well.
Thank you.
