I am building a 12v fanless box and i found an Atom D2550MUD2 board figured it would work good being i have heard good things about the atom boards. Well this one came with a GMA 3650 chip, well it turns out this version of the Atom does not like Linux at all.
Xorg took up 99% of the cpu just running one glxgears and latency was horrible 30-50K with huge spikes at random times ( i suspect this has to do with xorg hogging the cpu ) For some reason linux was not using the onboard graphics but using vmware instead?
Tried a few distro's and on everyone Xorg took up 99% of the cpu, was downloading 8.04 to try but remembered I ordered another board a Asrock j3355b so i swapped out boards and now no more Xorg maxing out the cpu. Latency was low 20's with some tweaks hope to get it into the teens and i will be happy.
On another note i have a Atom is anyone wants one lol
